Highlights: Jinja is considered the adventure capital of East Africa because of all the adrenaline pumping activities that happen there. It is slightly over 80km from the capital, Kampala (2 hour drive depending on traffic). On this brief expedition you will have your heart trying to break out of your chest (in a scary fun way) from the rafting but as the day slows down, you will see lots of birds along the river banks, rapids and waterfalls.
Day 1: Drive to Jinja
In the morning we will set out from your city hotel and reach Jinja in time to do our very first activity, white water rafting. The Nile offers Grade 5 rapids so you’re in for a treat. After your rafting we will do a sunset cruise on the Nile to crown your day.
Day 2: Drive by Sezibwa
After breakfast, we will then head out on a fishing safari on the Nile and be back in time for lunch. We will then make our way back to Kampala, making a brief stop at the Sezibwa Falls before reaching your city hotel in time for dinner and a good night’s rest.
Transportation: We will get around to most of these places by road, most of it is asphalt and some of it is rough. You will however be driven around in a 4WD for comfortable access in difficult places.
Travel Considerations: You will need light water clothing for your rafting expeditions. You will also need to carry a jacket for the cruises on the river as it could get chilly. Don’t forget to carry a camera to capture all your beautiful moments. Please carry insect repellent to ward off flies and bugs.
Seasons: Because there is a dam along the river, the flow of water is controlled all year round so there are no water level fluctuations even during the rainy seasons. However the dry season runs from January – February, and from June – September.
