Seated across each other on a table in a restaurant with the deafening traffic below, Allan and Markthought of all the guests that arrived to help build homes for orphans in Uganda. The only picture they saw of Africa was the scourge of HIV/AIDS, the street children banging on car windows; and what a depressing picture that can be, if it’s all you see. Then the thought occurred to us, there’s more to the dusty streets and the unending hordes of motorcycles, there’s
more to the pain left behind by disease and war.

There is an untamed patch of God’s Green Earth that you can see where the elephants run wild and the hippopotamuses belt out night cries, where the shoebill stork wades silently in the swamps and where the rambunctiousness of the monkeys in the forest canopies is something else. 

As the street sounds turned into white noise, we realised that we could start to introduce the happy side of our country to all the visitors who come over. We thought of Watalii, which is Swahili for tourists. We don’t want to forget that there’s better to show than the sadness and so we keep you at the forefront in our little company showing you a beautiful world despite the chaos
